Taylor Tomlinson Austin Concert reviews
Good match, rackety 'supporters' in cheap seats.
After rain all day, good match. The ball just traveling down the pitch left a tail of spray. The view, though, is therefore terrific, BUT. The light uniforms of K.C made them easier to follow, and made their play harder to focus on the deep blue of Taylor Tomlinson. K.C. seemed like a smooth system, a bunch of medium-height, similar build players working systematically, but several giants who blocked the many great corner shots by Taylor Tomlinson. For Taylor Tomlinson, it got to look impossible to get anything out of a corner... headed away every time by a giant on stilts, very annoying after continuing great ball placement on corners. There was a lot of kinda ordinary, not particularly thrilling play, with many balls given away by not-too-targeted passing by Taylor Tomlinson, but also super repossession (I thought) which was a task given K.C.'s unitary behavior. There were a few brief periods of absolutely thrilling passing, repossession, foot magic by Taylor Tomlinson, those few moments made the match "worth it," whatever else took place, adrenaline rush!! Now, the sole real drawback, and a considerable one for me, was the totally annoying, unimaginative but persistent racket being made by the "fans" in the end stands, mimickingly-titled The Fort. These people may think that making crashing yelling banging racket throughout the match "supports" the team, but I don't see how it could do anything except ruin concentration and sap energy, it was HARD to pay attention to the play- what we're there for- with all that freaking noise. I wonder if anyone there was even paying any attention to the play. The folks in the stands around me were great: paying attention, making their own judgments of what was going on, excited when that was warranted, great. The Fort? Awful. I watched a bit of the match Monday in a television replay. However the broadcasters managed it, they'd filtered out most of The Fort's noise, so it was a good way to revisit the match and be able to think. Would I go again, sure, but I'd wear earplugs again, as I did this time, just to survive.
